Hi, has anyone heard of or doing the Wim Hof breathing technique? I have been doing it for a couple of months now but after starting chemoradiation last week I have started to wonder if the breathing technique might be detrimental to my chemo. I stopped yesterday but I'm hoping to get as much info as I can and possibly either restart or stop all together during my treatment. Hopefully if anyone has any information at all they can share it with me.
Thanks
John
Hello Jimc67. I did try the Wim Hoff breathing technique before I had chemoradiation last year. I haven’t done it for a while. Unfortunately I have to have more treatment, part of my pre op was to have a lung test where I had to breath into a blow thing. I went over 400 on both blows. The nurse was delighted. I do wonder if it was I had practice Wim Hoff for a few months when we were in the first lock down. Perhaps it would be a good idea to speak to a doctor. I did it because of anxiety.
Hi Jmc67, I saw him first on telly, then I got him up on YouTube. If it helps and you feel better, and your oncologist is in agreement then go for it. I asked my GP about it he’d never heard of him! Please let me know how it goes Nelly
Hi nelly, my nurse spoke to the oncologist and she didn't really know what it was about. They said I could continue with it if I wanted but as they don't really have any medical facts about it, they don't know if it would benefit me. They also didn't say it would do any harm.. As long as its not going to do any harm I'm all for starting it back up again. There's also more breathing exercises he does as well. 1 is called conscious breathing I'm sure. I'm going to have a look at that also.
Cheers
John
Not something I've ever heard of...but hope it works for you.
Best
Marianne
Hi, Jmc67, let men know how you get on. I see on you tube it’s all about the breathing to help with anxiety and other things. Good luck with it. Nelly
