I am new on here
After having an emergency appendectomy in Dec 20 - I am 56 - a letter came from my surgeon to attend the hospital- they have found cancer in the appendix that was removed - now have to have colonoscopy and CT scan - colonoscopy is tomorrow and CT scan next Wednesday - I never expected this.
they have informed me a right hemicolectomy is what will happen but they need to see what is going on in bowel and other areas
I have no symptoms, I believe
how long does it take for the MDT to come back with a plan I just need to know if anyone out there has the same diagnosis
Hi Ladyfox
Welcome to the forum . I am sorry you are having to go through this and hope they will get a good treatment plan for you . There are a few people on the forum who have had a primary appendix cancer which roughly follows similar protocol to bowel cancer . Hopefully they will pop on and see your post .
Once you have your colonoscopy ( hopefully they will chat the findings through with you tomorrow) and the information from the CT scan the MDT meetings get scheduled. Some are very frequent, some every two weeks etc . Normally someone will let you know quite quickly . The ct scans need to be reported by the radiology department.
My mum had a right sided hemicolectomy . She did not require a stoma due to it being right side and it really has not given her many problems since then .
I am glad you have no symptoms and hopefully they will get a good plan out in place to get you through this quickly .
Take care ,

The prep stage for a colonoscopy is reported to be very unpleasant on this forum so I hope you have gotten on ok with it .
All the very best and chat later when your feeling better .
