Hi, wanted to connect with those currently having this type of Chemo; on to my second cycle of 8. I appear unwell 5 days post chemo but start to feel better day 6 so far; anyone else experience this?
Not sure how my side effects compare to others:
Pain & tingling in infusion site, face, nose, pain on chewing first two bites normallyI'm
Nausea
tiredness,im menopausal & have terrible sweats & insomnia directly after treatment; might be the steroids?
It helps to know how others are dealing with things?
Ha! Not a competition!?!? For my husband everything is a competition so that is one of his coping mechanisms! He is being reasonable though and listening to his body. Seriously thanks for the note. It’s all scary and hearing others’ experiences and support help both of us.
Hi there ,I had this chemo 18/12ago.Very tender infusion site which was like pins and needles .Couldnt touch cold or metal for 10days after oxiplatin .Steroids gave me a high for 3days then fatigue set in but felt better into the 3rd week .I had the feeling that my veins were freezing for the first 48hours .I am currently in remission .The only side effect I have now is cold toes which could be permanent
Thanks for this. Yes, exactly what I have experienced. I am now 12 days into my first cycle. Cold sensitivity still there but not as severe. It's helpful to know others had similar experiences. Good to know you are doing well, cold toes aside. Best wishes. DC (David)
Hi, i had the same regime from Sept 19 to March 2021.
I had the following side effects:
1. Freezing cold after IV. Wore bobble hat, gloves, 2 jumpers after treatment.
2. Feet and hands could not tolerate coldness.
3. Could not touch metal - like an electric shock.
4. Found it difficult to drink anything - please try hard with this, otherwise you will have to go to hospital to be rehydrated which happened to me.
Could not drink anything cold for at least 2 weeks after IV.
i had nausea and feeling very tired …….best thing i did was listen to my body. When you are tired sleep.
I also started to take CBD oil 20% - a few drops every day. I started this after my third session as i had lost 1/2 stone in weight. It worked, my appetite returned and i felt so much better. It tastes awful and does not contain any of the THC content which makes you high.
Everyone is different - so you have done well to ask on this site for help.
I always felt better knowing that i was not unique!
I have my final Colonoscopy in May 2023. I will pay for annual CT scans (full body) just to make sure.
Good luck and please ask anything you need to know.
