E48 here. I've now gone for a second opinion at the Royal Free, London, and the suggestion is that I try Capecitabine (Xeloda) to see how I get on. Also cortosteroids for the liver problems. Comments, advice, and specially personal experience very, very welcom. Thanks.

    • Hi E48. I had Capecitabine alongside radiotherapy for 25 sessions with no side effects. This was followed by  an abdonioperineal   resection. I then had 6 months of mop up Capecitabine. I felt generally well but had hand/foot syndrome which made the skin on my hands and feet peel and be very sore. I am now back at work full time and my recent colonoscopy was clear so I'm hoping to stay well in the future.

Good luck and lots of love

  • Like some of the others I had capecitabine for five week’s alongside radiotherapy. I didn’t suffer with any side effects from the capecitabine. I only got tired from the 80 mile round trip every day for that period! Good luck.
