I can't stop worrying, I feel so sick and exhausted from the worry...I'm so scared. For my husband who is going through this, for me, and our small children (6 & 4).

How does anyone stop the bad thoughts?

I've updated my profile with the latest... I'm struggling to cope and I just don't know how hide it anymore

  • Hi Wife2kidsunder6,

I'm Lizzie and I work here in the Online Community.

I'm so sorry to hear how you're feeling and what you and your family are going through at the moment. It sounds like an incredibly difficult time for you all, and I'm glad you've felt able to share this with us.

You mentioned having some bad thoughts. Have you spoken to your GP about how you’ve been feeling, or reached out to any support services? It might be helpful to talk things through with your GP, as they may be able to offer advice, discuss what support is available, and help you find the right services for you. You don’t have to deal with these thoughts on your own, and reaching out for support could be a helpful first step.

We have our family and friends forum and carers only forum. You may find it reassuring to know that you’re not alone and that there is a space where you can access support from others in a similar situation.

Please remember that alongside accessing support via the Online Community, the Macmillan Support Line teams are also here for you. Sometimes it can help to talk things through with someone who’s there to listen. They’re available 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week, on freephone 0808 808 00 00, by email, or via live webchat

Additionally, there are crisis helplines available that can offer immediate assistance and support should you ever need to reach out:

    • Samaritans have a line you can call at any time, every day of the week. Whatever you're going through, a Samaritan is available to face it with you. You can call them free on 116 123 (they are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year).
    • Mind is a UK-based mental health charity, which you can call on 0300 123 3393 or text 86463 for mental health support.

If you're struggling with your mental health we would always recommend discussing how you are feeling with your GP. If you need help and it’s outside of your GP’s opening hours, please call the non-emergency NHS 111 on 111 for England and Scotland. NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47 if you are from Wales. If you’re in Northern Ireland, you can find details of an out of hours service here.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

    Lizzie
