Post APR operation

Afternoon all, 

I’m 5 weeks post APR operation and over the past few days have been experiencing bleeding from my bottom wound with a stinging sensation. Just wondering if anyone that has been through this procedure experienced this and if it is normal? 

  • Hi  Char Cad. I had an APR nearly 6 months ago. I didn’t have bleeding but the pain and discomfort is only just becoming doable.  Sitting was horrible and to be honest I avoided it as much as possible, which the lying on one side, caused back problems,which are only just easing.  My only advice is talk to your district nurses/stoma nurses, they will have seen all events and will know how to treat you.  Also stand and walk about as much as possible.  It is major surgery and the Barbie butt will take a time to heal completely because of where it is so be patience and kind to yourselve Best wishes
