Hello

I have followed this forum for the past seven years; joined in discussions, & have given advice (& been given advice) - based on my own personal experiences, & have found this site a wonderful platform for everybody that has been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer.

I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in 2019, & had a left Hemicolectomy. One year later, I developed two Lung Nodules. Both conditions were treated successfully, & I was followed up until January this year, after being in remission for that time.

In the past six weeks,I have experienced chronic daily diarrhoea after eating food, & have a dull ache very low in my left abdomen. I have had many visits to my medical centre. Fit Test normal, as were Bloods. However, last consultation yesterday, & I'm now on the 2WW, & waiting for the phone call or letter.

Oh bugger it - here we go again! But at least I know all the procedural tests that I will have to face again, & will be prepared for.

However, I can't say I'm happy to be back in this possible situation again.

  • Hi

And what a support you have been to everyone over the years . I am

sincerely hoping it’s something totally benign that is troubling you and nothing cancer related .
Can totally see why you would want to be thoroughly checked out and will be holding out to hopefully hear it’s all ok .

But I do remember you initially posting about the lung spread then you finding your feet and faced it head on .

    Take special care ,

  • Hi Kareno62

& thanks so much for asking.

I had a consultation with a surgeon consultant at DCH, last Wednesday.

Lovely man, & instantly felt a good rapport with him. He had read all my notes prior, including my recent current records with my local surgery, where I have had several tests in the past six weeks. However, he wanted to know all about my current problems, & was a very good listener.

He was very doubtful that it would be a recurrence of Bowel cancer (after being signed off only seven months ago.) & his initial thoughts were that it sounded like I had Colitis. But, he recommended a Colonoscopy (at the end of this month,) as that is the only way to actually determine the cause of my current symptoms.

& so, I'm just going to have to be brave & have it done, as obviously I want to know what is going on. I won't be having sedation, just gas & air.

I have to say that following my conversation with him, I felt so much better, & in lighter spirits.

Thanks everyone for asking, I will update with the results. x.

    .

  • Sounds much more positive.

    Glad to hear that .
