I had my ileostomy reversal in May '24 after 11 months and was back to the new normal after 4 or 5 months. I can now eat almost anything without too many problems. Whilst I had the stoma my skin gradually got bad rashes in the groin, arm pits, elbows and under my man boobs. Doctors said it was a resurgence of my childhood eczema and gave me steroid cream when helped a bit.
But it wasn't until I had the reversal and got to the point of getting a healthy biome back in the Colon that the rashes completely disappeared. There was never any mention from anyone regards the effect of losing your Colon for a period of time on skin health or anything else.
I'm interested if anyone else has suffered like this as I'm not sure the medics are making a connection between loss of a working Colon and the problems that can arise?
