Christmas with Cancer

Hey,

I’m 30, mummy to a one year old and was diagnosed with colorectal cancer at the end of October.

I’m due to start treatment before Christmas and wondering how others have found the festive season whilst having treatment?

I love sparkle season and want to feel as much as my normal self as possible. Even little things like a tan, eyebrows and eyelashes done etc? It sounds so silly in the grand scheme of things but I don’t want to not feel like me!

Any help/tips etc very welcomed xx

  • HI  ,

You don't mention which treatment you will be having so all my comments maybe not right at all, but I'll do my best.  Also it is not silly to want to feel like yourself, that's perfectly normal.

If it's chemo you can't wear gels/false nails and I'd get your hair etc done before you start if you want colour to be done.

I don't have my eyelashes done, but I did have my eyebrows waxed (I think) when on chemo.  Facials are a bit tricky as they can only use certain products so that might apply to tans too.

If you can - do as much food prep as possible now while you are feeling good, get the freezer stocked up so you can pull out and heat up.

In the starting few rounds of chemo I didn't feel so bad and in the latter few I really mostly was fatigued, so I think if that's the treatment that is starting, just get as much prep as you can done now and make it as easy a ride for yourself as possible.  I'd suggest Santa gets ahead on the gift wrapping for the little one too!  Then you can just put things out and relax.

I hope that helps?  If it's not chemo you might want to update with the treatment plan so others can help with their experiences?

    Best wishes
