Face to face

Hi all,

I had my yearly check when they thought they’d ’found something’ back into the whirlwind I went.

then they decided it was watch and wait. So last week I had the ct scan and I had my bloods yesterday.

today I had a phone call to ask for a face to face appointment a week Friday with my surgeon.  Even when they had thought they had found something the nurses still called me rather than a face to face.

I’m home alone at the moment as my husband s away with work and I can’t call my parents as they are in holiday.

I’m terrified. I don’t know what to think.

Anybody got any thoughts?

thanks

  • Hi  so sorry you are having all this stress. Safe to say it's what we dread really. I am coming up for a year post diagnosis so really feel for you. That's a wait too for the appointment.  Can the nurses give any more context over the phone? I know the services are so stretched but it's so hard just waiting. Sending best wishes xx

  • Thanks Arial88,

I spoke to a friend going through the same process and she said sometimes she’s asked to go in as the consultant just likes to check up on how we are doing.

My husbands cousin is a nurse practitioner and she said they usually get the patient back in to discuss results whatever they may be.

my sensible head (in as much as it’s ever sensible) has been put back on this morning and I feel better.

    thank you for responding.

  • Fabulous xx it's so easy to let panic set in when there is often a much less scary reason!!! Take care x

  • I had a call in for a face to face in the hospital a while ago, on a Sunday. That was a concern.

There were several people in the room, all in a cheerful mood and I was told the surgery had been successful and the lymph nodes were clear. That was it. I left, walking on air!

It's not necessarily all bad news.
