I had a call from my GP to say my Fit test was positive at 356 and i am being referred on the 2WW cancer referal pathway for a colonoscopy.
Any advice or your experiences would be great to hear, thank you.
Hi Robin85a1717f and a warm welcome to the board. It’s hard to compare Fit test results as I’ve seen results higher than that and nothing has been found - see post below
Ive also seen results a lot lower than that that have turned out to be bowel cancer. The important thing is to have the colonoscopy and get checked out. The positive result means that there is blood in your stool but it may be caused by something like diverticulitis, colitis, polyps, ibs etc. and only 1 in 10 colonoscopies results in a bowel cancer diagnosis.
If, and it is an if at this stage, it does turn out to be bowel cancer then there is a lot of treatment available and lots of help and support on here
Please let us know how you get on?
Karen x
Thank you. I have my Colonoscopy appointment booked for this Saturday, so not much longer now.
Robin
