Hi everyone. I thought I'd post an update on my journey on Mounjaro weight loss injections if anyone is considering taking it after colorectal surgery.
I started taking it in April this year 14 months after my operation as my weight had increased too much. I asked the colorectal team for advice at the time but they never got back so I thought well no news is good news so I went ahead. I was 19st 4lb at the time.
Up to now on increasing doses I've lost 2 and a half stone which is good. I did have some concerns that the weight loss could be a recurrence of cancer but I had stopped taking for a month and weight started increasing so I am confident that it's the Mounjaro working.
Apart from some constipation at the start which had calmed down after a few weeks there was nothing side affects wise apart from an aching hip for a day after the injection.
I had a phone appointment booked with the colorectal team a month ago and told them again about the mounjaro. After speaking to an oncologist I was told if I'm getting on ok then I was fine taking it but to just watch out for any unplanned weight loss which I had already done.
So if anyone is considering taking it I have been ok and it helps with my weight loss. I can't say if any other side effects will present in other people but if you are worried about weight gain it might be worth a go.
All the best everyone.
P.S. I'd just like to add that I had a T3N1M0 colorectal tumour and had a resection op in February 24 followed by 4 sessions of CAPOX.
Positivity is good medicine. You can do it. X

Hi Colin S
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to share your experience of mounjaro after surgery.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis, treatment and use of mounjaro into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hello Anne.
