Hi everyone. I thought I'd post an update on my journey on Mounjaro weight loss injections if anyone is considering taking it after colorectal surgery.
I started taking it in April this year 14 months after my operation as my weight had increased too much. I asked the colorectal team for advice at the time but they never got back so I thought well no news is good news so I went ahead. I was 19st 4lb at the time.
Up to now on increasing doses I've lost 2 and a half stone which is good. I did have some concerns that the weight loss could be a recurrence of cancer but I had stopped taking for a month and weight started increasing so I am confident that it's the Mounjaro working.
Apart from some constipation at the start which had calmed down after a few weeks there was nothing side affects wise apart from an aching hip for a day after the injection.
I had a phone appointment booked with the colorectal team a month ago and told them again about the mounjaro. After speaking to an oncologist I was told if I'm getting on ok then I was fine taking it but to just watch out for any unplanned weight loss which I had already done.
So if anyone is considering taking it I have been ok and it helps with my weight loss. I can't say if any other side effects will present in other people but if you are worried about weight gain it might be worth a go.
All the best everyone.
Colin.
