where do I start. Started in June this year. I found a lump between vigina and anus and was fast tracked through the uk cancer system. So far I have had a ct, mri and pet scan, a biopsy and a camera in my bottom. First Biopsy was inconclusive so having another one this week. They have found high risk cells in my bottom so hence the second biopsy. The lump is now just under an inch long and so so painful. They have said it could be bowel cancer so the waiting is very worrying. More so the pain which  the pain killers do not touch. The lump affects walking . Sitting, sleeping everything. The pain I have is like nerve twinges . Would anyone know if something I can buy to help with this as it is really starting to get me down now

  • Hi Michelle

I am sorry to hear that you have been undergoing diagnostic testing for possible bowel cancer. It sounds like the lump is really affecting you. Have you contacted your GP for some pain relief? It may well be that you need something stronger or more specific that over the counter pain relief. I know from experience that nerve type pain may need an entirely different type of medicine as it does not normally respond to the more common pain killers.

Its not surprising that it is getting you down. I am sorry that you are going through this.

May I suggest that you give the Support Line a call and talk to one of the nurses. They may well be able to suggest something that could help to ease the discomfort until you have some form of treatment plan. I am wondering whether some type of medical cushion would help? The Support Line is available from 8am-8pm daily.

I hope that you can get some relief from the pain and are feeling more comfortable soon.

    Jane
