Bowel Issues

I'm still in the testing/elimination/diagnosis phase and trying not to worry but my Calprotectin test came back at a level of 414 and I've been referred to the gastric clinic on the 'urgent' list. My initial pain in June over 4-5 weeks has eased but not disappeared and the bloating remains, along with other symptoms (hard to differentiate as I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue). This all came out of the blue. Gynae scans have come back satisfactory. Does anyone else share this experience and have any reassurance/advice please?

  • Hi  Have you done a FIT test as well? I think FIT tests check for blood whereas calprotectin checks for inflammation which can be caused by crohns, colitis and inflammatory bowel disease.
I hope you get an appointment soon and my reply will bump this up the board so others may be able to help

    Take care

  • Hi Kareno62

Thanks for replying. The FIT test came back normal. No blood detected but there is/has been obvious to the eye mucus for many months now. Hoping to get my appointment through soon. Take care. Lyn x
