After a good response to chemo I am due to have lung ablation on the remaining two nodules in my right lung. Just wondering whether if anyone could share their experience of this type of treatment.
Hi, I had this procedure done back in 2019; which was also on two lung nodules in right lobe.
I personally found it to be a very easy, non invasive procedure. Presumably you have been told the details of what the ;'op.' entails? It's not an operation as such, as there is no surgery involved. However, whilst under anaesthetic, you lie under a scanner, & long needles are inserted into the precise areas, & the nodules are 'blasted,' or burned out with radio waves I believe.
I was told that I could choose sedation, rather than GA. However, there was no way I'd be able to keep still (which is a necessity,) & so, opted to be not awake.
After a night in hospital, I was discharged, & resumed normal life immediately. All there was to show from the procedure - were two tiny plasters over the entrance sites - which I removed, & there was no evidence of any pinpricks on my skin.
Wishing you all the best
Marianne
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I feel reassured. The consultant I saw yesterday mainly concentrated on explaining the liver surgery which I will need after the lung ablation.
