Hi everyone
I should be asleep, but instead just led here thinking about upcoming check ups. Today has been one of those fed up days! And just now I heard people laughing outside which made me shed a tear, as I'm here over thinking! I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds it really lonely at times, and it's not always easy to talk to people about certain things as they wouldn't really understand and I wouldn't expect them to. So that's why I'm writing on here because let's face it, no one on this group wants to be here, but I'm very grateful there is a space where we can all share. Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this, stay strong!
Hi Hope27 Sensing you a big virtual hug. Yes I think we all have down days especially when there’s a check up looming and all the memories start creeping back in. Time is a great healer and each clear scan /CEA pushes things a little bit further back in your mind.
Although this article is quite old there’s some good information on it
This paper about feeling after cancer treatment is also good
Do you have any local support groups that you can go to where people can share your feelings? You can type your postcode in the box below and it will bring up support local to you and the support desk on here is also available if you want to chat to someone?
Please let us know how your check up goes?
Take care
Karen x
Thank you Karen and for all the information also. I've spoken to a support worker through MacMillan, before I returned to work last year. But in all honesty I wouldn't go to any local groups as I just couldn't bring myself to do that. Will let you know how it goes, I hope and pray everything will be ok x
Sending lots of positive thoughts your way. I totally get those down days when everything seems extra hard. I am just going through chemo post stage 3 diagnosis and some times I wonder how I will manage the surveillance anxiety. I imagine as Karen says, time is a healer. xx
It is truly wonderful to have a place where we're understood.
We all have down days and we've all experienced feeling alone with our cancer since even our most supportive healthy friends rarely "get it" completely.
We hear you, we understand where you're coming from.
I've struggled with anxiety around scans and follow-ups. Hang in there. We can do this.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
