Diagnosed in march 2023 and had a resection. All going well! Just had my 2 year scan in March and have been advised to go for a colonoscopy as there appears to be some slight thickening of the anastomosis join. Everything else in the scan was clear, bloods are normal and CEA remains at 0.6. I obviously googled and am now petrified. Anyone else had this?
There's are other explanations. The colonoscopy and possible biopsies will give you the best answer.
Until then, try to keep your mind off it. Our imaginations can conjure up the worst things and rarely goes down a positive path. Even if it turns out to be a cancer recurrence, it is likely caught early and will be easily treated.
I had resection/ hemicolectomy Jan 24. Had chemo following as lymph nodes positive. On the close surveillance since and had awful phone call last month from collorectal nurse informing me CT showed " abnormal segment of transverse colon ", and was back on cancer pathway! Plummeted into fear immediately! Had an urgent colonoscopie that week & I was terrified! End result was 'just' also thickening of anastmosis site/ inflammation! Is good they are on to it for you & as mentioned, colonoscopie is 'gold standard ' to check any abnormal issues, so this is good is being arranged for you as will pick up anything immediately. My bloods were also good like you. Wishing you well, let us know how you get on & take care xx
