Hi,
My mum has had colon cancer surgery last week and we have been told it was a success, she had a biopsy to see if the cancer had spread anywhere else. The surgeon said In his opinion it looks like it hasn’t spread anywhere else. The biopsy results have come back and they haven’t given the results over the phone and want to speak to her in person tomorrow. Should we expect the worst or do you have positive and good cancer results face to face as well? Thanks
Hi,
I understand how you feel, the waiting whether it's for appointments, treatment or results for me is the worst part. I can only tell you that from my experience I've learnt not to try and dwell on anything until I've had a date or spoken to my cancer nurse or consultant. My personal experience is that assumptions are more often wrong than right!
I tell myself that it's not good for my mental health to try and second guess until I've had the information. I know that's not easy, it can take practice to learn to not dwell on what might or might not be! I've had both positive and negative results face to face and on the phone so there's no knowing until you know I'm afraid. You and your mum don't have long to wait, so if you can, fill yours and her time with some things you like to do and trust that whatever the information is, you have got great support here on the hub and through the NHS staff. Sending big positive hugs!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
