Is there anyone out there who has or who is taking the weight loss injection Mounjaro, I stupidly forgot to tell the online pharmacy I had rectal cancer and chemo in 2022/2023 and me gallbladder removed in 2024.
Thanks
Hi There,
Yup I went ahead with it after getting confirmation from my colorectal team. I did my third dose Sunday and so far I’ve had no side effects. Well I say that it isn’t a side effect as such its rather a plus for me but it’s making me poop normally, yes a little hard to poop but I’m no longer relying on the Lactulose to keep me regular, I thought it was a little crazy at first but after having a word with one of the pharmacists I work with she confirmed it would be the jab that is defo making me poop more.. but yea no other side effects, whether that will all change when I move up the doses who knows but so far so good defo keep it up if you can.

Hi VJS.
Thanks for the prompt reply, it's a weight off my mind.
I've been the same as you with it being harder to go to the loo, and for me I've become less regular. I believe that the drug causes a slowing down of the digestive system but with all the side effects listed I bear in mind that these are for people who haven't had bowel cancer. I admit I didn't tell the online consultation about my previous cancer because I'm desperate to lose weight.
But the advice you've had from your colorectal team is very positive and I will speak to mine. I think I will continue and see how things go.
Thank you and good luck with your weight loss. I hope you can achieve the target that you set for yourself
All the best.
Colin.
A suggestion - In my case, post bowel cancer, I have found that, to ease passage, taking Movicol (sachets dissolve in water) and/or DulcoEase or DulcoLax tablets most helpful. Both seem to be mild and gentle and can be bought at a chemist over the counter. My wife who is more prone to constipation (has not had bowel / digestive cancer) has occasionally taken DulcoEase which has helped (1 or 2 a day is I think the norm.) I still take one now and again when it seems to be a little too long. Hope this helps. You may wish to speak with your nurse or doctor. All the best. Anbou.
