Anyone who can share tips and advice?
I have been Type 1 since 1964 and was very well controlled. Had an ileostomy then chemoradiotherapy then major surgery (ending with a colostomy) about 3 1/2 years ago. Since then, blood glucose is often too high and insulin often doesn't work - requiring an additional injection. Clearly my digestive system has been rearranged and absorption rates affected. I was warned that chemoradiotherapy would cause unpleasant diarrhoea - hence the initial ileostomy - so it stands to reason that medicines in tablet form will pass through quickly. Tips and advice are thin on the ground unfortunately and whatever treatment plan you are on might just influence your glucose control.
