Hi everyone, new here, I’m writing this on behalf of my mum. She was diagnosed nearly 3 years ago and has had 4 different chemos and her fair share of side effects :( sadly she has now developed a fistula and they are doing a CT to see what can be done but she’s terrified of having an operation especially as her bloods have been constantly low including her platelets etc. However if she doesn’t she could get an infection (obviously waiting for scan results to see what the people in charge say) but just wanted some reassurance if anyone else has had chemo and then developed this and had an operation to resolve it? She’s been through so much and I just want to have more information to support her as one of the consultants scared and confused us with his wording by saying he’s had patients not make it but the nurse said he didn’t mean this in reference to having the operation he meant in terms of going on the chemo drug again, any help appreciated
Hi RAW2891 I’m sorry but I don’t have any experience of this but maybe you could change the title of your post to include the word ‘fistula’ or try searching for previous posts using the search box at the top left of the screen?
Take care
Karen x
