Scanxiety (again!)

Hi

It's that time of year again!  I had my follow up scan on 3rd January and haven't had the results yet.

I'm starting to panic as I usually hear within a week to 10 days.

I know I'm being overanxious, but I'm starting to worry and imagine the worst.

Friends have had scans at the same hospital recently and got results in a few days

I will ring the hospital at the end of the week if I've heard nothing.

Do they usually ring quickly if there's a problem?  Am I just being overanxious?

  • Oh, that's a long time to wait.  I suppose different areas have different wait times.

I count myself as fortunate that when I was first diagnosed, I was operated on before I had time to take it all in!  Also that my surgeon was one who took the time to explain everything.

There's always a backlog for everything!  Even my eye appointments have a big backlog!  Frustrating but that's how things are now all through the NHS.

I'm like you, just hoping no news is good news.

    Fingers crossed for you. Xx

  • I had a CT scan in March '24 and the surgeon said he would contact me if there was anything to report. Never heard anything, so no news is good news as far as I'm concerned. Had another follow up CT + blood test in early December: not a word to date. I feel fine so just carry on with daily life.

  • It's good that you can be relaxed about it.  I think it's inbuilt in me to be anxious about things !!

I like to have a definite answer before i can relax.

I think your way is much better!
