So just update on dad's health .Finally been to see one of the doctors today so dad has now now got a name for this b*****d Cancer  it's colon adenocarcinoma stage 4 . Spread to his lungs liver and lymph nodes along with his prostate cancer which is separate.. been referred to Western Park to discuss palative care that could be upto another 2 week .However when leaving hospital  he caught C Diff so we have been told whilst he's still infected  with this he can't have any treatment.

Dad seems to have dwindled so to speak in the last week which today was a wake up so to speak even though I see him every day today was different

  • hi

Well on the one hand I know how it can feel to find a name for the beast but difficult to hear about the C Diff, we can sometimes overlook that all sorts of things are still out there.

Fingers crossed he gets over this and then get the treatment he needs.

    <<hugs>>

  • Just another little catch up so mum recieved a letter today so wine he was in hospital bear in mind was in for over 2 week came out on the 1st November and dnow to be told he may have caught CPE bugRolling eyes so along with C DIFF he now has somthing else he needs to fight before he can start any Palative Chemo even if that is going to be an option ..

    Just one thing after another

  • Oh that’s harsh . When my mum was initially diagnosed with a spread her oncologist told her to go and have a holiday . There was no such thing as emergency chemo . That it had probably been there for a while .  So hope that settles you a bit as I know there is a feeling that chemo should start right away .
Lots of infections pop up for cancer patients and they are experienced at dealing with them . My mum had six weeks off when she was on chemo for a variety of reasons and they put her back on it each time . I was worried but taking the time to sort the issues out does help get a better run at chemo .

Managing the worry and concern for your relative is so hard and it’s lovely he has such a caring family .

One step at a time  is definitely how a stage 4 diagnosis plays out .

    Take special care ,
