My wife was diagnosed with right side Bowel cancer , she was informed in March of this year that she had right side bowel cancer ,she also suffers from COPD , Asthma and heart failure she is now 75 years young she seen a few other specialists and on the 4th July this year we was informed that although the cancer could be removed and she would be fine But the only problem for her is her other medical conditions which would only kill her during a operation and chemo would kill her sooner then the Cancer. And then we was informed she had less then 12 months left , we was never told what stage the cancer is at or any other information just that a macmillan nurse will sort her palliative care, I have looked on a number of websites including the NHS web site that the prognosis is even worse than we was informed they all say 6 to8 months she has lost a bit of weight now she is sleeping most of the day and all night . Is this the start of things getting worse for her she is very strong willed and I know she is doing all she can to stay for as long has she can , has her husband I would like to know what to expect and look out for in the future so I can stay strong for her and our children who are all grown up. My wife doesn’t like talking about it , it only upsets her and she will not let on me or the family know but I can see sometimes she is in pain she says to me that her back aches and when I ask her she says it’s probably just the way she has been sitting or sleeping I’m just at a loss she wants to stay home and I fully understand her decision and I wish support her no matter how hard it may get .
Hi Armedforces and welcome to the community.
You have made your post in the cervical cancer group, but it looks like you wanted to make you post in the bowel cancer group where you can connect to patients and carers who have experience of bowel cancer.
I have asked the Macmillan team to move your post for you, and you may wish to join the bowel cancer group in the same way as you have joined this group.
The link for bowel group is here, so you can just click on the link I’ve made and join here-
