Does anyone know if it’s ok to take probiotics while going through chemo?
Reason I’m asking is that hubby had toothache a couple of days ago, received dental treatment and is on a 5 day course of Amoxycillin. However, Oncology team told him he needed to stop chemo for the duration of his antibiotics. Since antibiotics kill good bacteria in the gut as well as dealing with the bad bacteria, hubby wants to take a probiotic drink such as Actimel to help replace the good ones. But I’m not sure if he should do this, although I understand his reasons for wishing to do so in order to keep his gut balance healthy.
Any thoughts or advice on this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
