Ct scan year after bowel resection

Hello everyone

My name is Karen. I had a bowel resection and illestomy fitted last October 2023. Had 4 rounds of Capox. Have had an appointment in for a ct scan. I am really scared of the outcome. But I know I have to go. Finding it hard to cope.

I had 2cm polyp that had turned to cancer in sigmoid. 2 lymph nodes involved out of 24

Hi Kmck The term for this is scanxiety which I think sums it up pretty well. You’ve already had the cancer removed and some belt and braces chemo, The scan will hopefully confirm that you’re still cancer free. If not then anything untoward will have been picked up quickly and can be dealt with.

Although this is an old article the advice on dealing with emotions is still very relevant

Thankyou for your quick reply. It is 2 weeks away the ct scan. I will read your article. Hopefully this will help me. I have to go to move forward.
