Does anyone on here get this I am looking after my son he lives alone and is self employed he is so fatigued after chemo that he can't get out of bed some days
Hi Rosie13 Looking at the link below I don’t think he would automatically qualify because of having cancer but please give the support desk a ring as there may be other help available which they can advise you on?
Hi Rosie13
I qualify for PIP at the maximum level for both components, but it’s not about having cancer as such. You need to have issues which are expected to last for at least 12 months and affect your daily life. The form to apply is very detailed and you need to be able to describe very clearly your worst kind of days. Karen has given good advice about calling MacMillan for guidance as they will be able to help. Only the DWP can make a decision, but MacMillan can help you through.

Unfortunately nobody in the group should say “he should get it”. In the group we can only speak about our personal experience, not make assumptions about whether anyone is entitled or not, or report hearsay. I’m not sure where the evidence comes from that it’s “very often abused” but it may be your personal opinion.
I had a telephone interview, had to fill in a very lengthy form and provide evidence from my surgeon. I am disabled, now housebound and cannot do many of the daily tasks others might take for granted-such as making a meal, putting my own socks and shoes on, or taking a shower alone. Someone may think I don’t need it, but the DWP have agreed that I do, and I for one am very grateful-my own pride meant it took me a long time to apply for this, and I don’t take it for granted. I’ve worked all my life, and now can’t. I’m not abusing the system in any way, and will have further assessments in time to confirm I am still eligible.

I apologise if my post caused offence. Perhaps admin. could remove it for me; as I am unsure how to delete it myself.
Thank you.
Marianne26 If you click on the More button it should give you the option to delete the post if you wish? x
I tried to Karen. For some reason it's not allowing me to do so x
Hi Marianne26
If I flag the post it would get immediately removed from the site and I can explain to the team that you want to delete it, if this is what you’d like to do?
