I was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer last September and have subsequently had 5 cycles of FOLFOX chemotherapy.
I was MRI/CT scanned initially following diagnosis and then rescanned after my 4th cycle of chemo which showed the tumour has perforated.
I’ve since needed a colostomy to bypass the tumour pending surgery. I was due to have 5 weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy before surgery but this has now been cancelled due to the perforation. I’ve now been given 2 options for surgery to remove the tumour which I’m considering.
Has anyone else had any experience of a perforated tumour and if so what surgery options were you given?
Many thanks
Hi Catnapper10
Welcome to the forum.
I am just going to pop this back up to the top again to let others see it .
Unfortunately quite a lot of people do have a perforation. There are various different procedures for a rectal tumour . Would you like me to get some information for you on the different operations ?
Take care ,
Court
