Had my first cycle of Folfox yesterday & wearing the pump at home for 48hrs… 2 weekly cycles for 12 weeks. All seemed to go as planned at the hospital and the Picc line definitely helped with the ease of infusion and bloods etc as I didn’t feel anything!
Today I’ve got stiffness in hands/fingers not tingling as I’d expected? Also throat feels a bit scratchy and pain in jaw/glands when I bite? Any tips or advice pls??
AlbaH
Hi AlbaH, I am not on folfox but capox (the infusion is the same - oxaliplatin). I had my second infusion on Tuesday and my fingers feel stiff and crampy. I get tingles when I expose my fingers to the cold - fridge/freezer/metal objects but not all the time. My stifness/tingles eased off after a few days on my last infusion and were completely gone in a week.
The pain in your jaw when you bite is common but it does wear off after a few days. Take smaller bites for your first few bites. Does it ease after a few bites?
My oncologist says these are all due to your nerves being super sensitive after the infusion.
I hope this helps?
