Hi everyone,
So I’ve just got home from hospital after being taken in by ambulance. I’m ten days post surgery after laparoscopic surgery for an lower anterior resection for upper rectal cancer.
My bowels are still highly unpredictable but until today I had no problem passing urine. The problem escalated rapidly and I can only describe it as excruciatingly painful. I could not stand and I am not quite sure how I made it to the ambulance.
The hospital confirmed I had a UTI and fitted a catheter to drain the urine. I have never felt relief like it. I’m now home with some antibiotics to add to my list of medications and the catheter needs to stay in for around two weeks.
Has anyone else suffered a UTI post surgery? I’m just worried about the risk of developing a new infection once this catheter is removed.
Thanks,
Craig
