Hi all,

I am now 2 weeks after surgery, which was removal of part of my RH Colon and was told to be on a soft diet eating white bread, chicken, fish ,eggs and such like. When would it be good to expand my diet to include a bit of fibre and other meats as well.

Just want to know what people have experienced after surgery and if you can pass on any advice.

Thanks

  • Hi  I think the usual guidance is to follow low fibre for 4-6 weeks. I think you can eat other meats as long as they’re not too tough? Have a look at this post and see if it gives you a few options?

  • Hi   I had part of my colon removed last year and wasn’t told to follow any diet. The hospital gave me full access to the menu whilst I was there. I had to do the low residual before the op but not after. I was just told to drink plenty of water.

    good luck with your recovery!

  • I had a Right Hemi Colectomy, I was the same as Shellbell24 as far as diets go, I did have a call from a Dietitian who only told me try a Low Res diet. As I'm a vegetarian I thought my diet was good enough and just stuck to what I always ate, so far no problems with food.
