Hi I posted this earlier but might of been in wrong section apologies if I didn't and it's already been seen '

Ive just been told I've gotta have a second Hemicolectomy next week the first one was just over a year ago,, the last bloods and scans came clear but the camera showed what I was told was a growth of scar tissue (gristle?)from the previous join which after the biopsy came back infected,,how many of theses is it feasible to have or is this a common thing ,has anyone else had 2 or more of this done and is the recovery and symptoms after just the same or different ,it took months to get back to some type of normality last time and it's really getting to me knowing what's ahead again ,,thanks for any info or advice,,also I've had a constant dull ache on my right side above me hip for months now could this have anything to do with what's going on or just summit else

  • Hi Shieldsman. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve got to have another op? Hopefully recovery will be a bit easier this time if you know what to expect? I can’t really answer your questions but hopefully bumping it up the board may bring it to someone’s attention who’s been in a similar situation and you could also try posting in the Ask a Nurse section?

  • Cheers Karen appreciate the reply and I've put it in the section you suggested

  • Hi again. I just typed subtotal colectomy in the search box. This post is quite old now but might be helpful?

  • Cheers again Karen had a read and looks like a lot more toilet visits are on the way which like everyone once I'll have to get used to ,, it's the overwhelming feeling of guilt (I know I shouldn't feel that) I've got putting loved ones through this ,I'm on me way down to my daughter's today to tell her and really struggling

  • Sending you a hug. It really messes with your emotions doesn’t it? I felt guilty that I was putting on my hubby and he felt guilty that he couldn’t do more for me………but at the end of day it’s something that has to be done? I don’t have any children but I imagine that you’re wanting to protect her and not see her upset but she would be more upset if you kept it from her I’m sure?

Keep posting on here when you need to offload and don’t forget the support desk is there too if you want to talk things through with someone

    Take care
