Second operation

Tumour in the rectal area.

It's been 5 weeks since my operation to remove the tumour and fit a stoma.
However, because my pelvic area was frozen ( scar tissue) they could only remove part of the tumour.
I was referred to a specialist at another hospital, who said the tumour was operable and could be cured.
This time they would need to go in via the abdomen and remove the anus and rectum then site the stoma.
He said this was another huge operation, but wouldn't take place until January 0-24.
The tumour is slow growing and this would be the optimum time to operate, giving me time to recover from my first operation.
Does anyone else have a similar scenario?

  • Yes that’s correct, trying to get over the first operation with the pain and fatigue, now the thoughts of having to go through all this again in a second operation with an even more extensive recovery period.
I am still trying to take it a day at a time, and be thankful for what I have, knowing they are people fighting this horrible at different stages.

  • Hi Robby63

    How is your recovery going?

I found it very difficult to process healthy food so my diet needed supplements

Meal supplements gave me more energy that may be helpful though my Ileostomy didn’t like them much before my op they did give me a boost
I needed to Power Nap often and listened to my body. The more I pushed the more the fatigue set in

    Best Wishes
