I was diagnosed with a presacral tumour one and a half years after anal cancer went into remission. There was mis communication between the hospitals in middlesbrough and Necastle meaning the scans had to be done twice and 7 weeks waste. Luckily it has just grown and not spread to lymph nodes. They don't want to put me through chemo and radio due to having it before and bowel still irritated easily. They are now removing my rectum and anus taking out part of my spine in the hope that they can get all of the tumour as well as having stoma fitted. I then have 4 weeks in the RVI in Newcastle as cannot be on my back. Trying to weigh it all up and look at the positives main one being reduction in cost for toilet paper. Not looking forward to it bit at the end of the day better than the pain I get now

You have got a lot to process.
There will be lots of others that have had the same op. I found great support here when I had my stoma.
The stoma support group have lots of tips and advice so that’s definitely a group that you can join. Plus they’re a great bunch
I had a temporary Ileostomy and the group really gave me emotional and practical advice. I was flying abroad no bother
First things first I will tag in Katz51 who has had a similar op and had lots of experience
You can click on her name to read her back story if you want
Take care
