Welcome August and I sincerely hope you are much drier than July !
Made some Rhubarb and ginger jam as it seems to like wet conditions !
Thanks as ever to my trusted friend Gemmary for reminding me we are in August .
I do hope you are managing to cope with such damp conditions .
Mum doing well on treatment. Just hope it’s still doing it’s job .
Take care ,

Ooh that cake looks very yummy Court. Good to hear that your mums doing ok - didn’t realise she was such a night owl!
The knitted muff that your dad was given is called a Twiddle Muff! I’ve recently found an amazing fb site called Sew Knit Crochet for the NHS and Charities. It’s got lots of patterns and you can search in the box for an area name to see if your local hospital needs anything in particular? I think I’ve pretty much given up ever learning how to crochet so I’ll continue with my knitting - I’ve done a couple of blankets and now trying an angel dress.
Weather still a bit up and down here but hopefully having hubby’s family for a bbq on Monday then off to New York mid September - that should get my steps in for the month
Court that’s amazing. I made for dementia too. I used to knit for premature babies but they were overwhelmed with donations and asked me for muffs, finger twiddles. It’s satisfying
Im sad to say that I’ve stopped and I’m taking a break as the dusk from the wool makes me cough.

Hope mum is enjoying her holidays, Court. I'm chuckling that you've needed to get her to bed before 1am! A bit of role reversal going on there, I think.
Those wee wooly hats look super and they'll be hugely appreciated. Helping others and therapeutic for mum too. Win, win.
Make sure to enjoy much more cake. Mmm....
Now through the SBRT sessions, five in all. Compared with any other treatment, the side effects have been minimal - mainly fatigue which increased over the 5 sessions. Now we have to wait a few months to find out whether the squatter has quit.
One butterfly has eluded us so far, but posed for me yesterday, on my birthday. A painted lady. In good seasons, they even make it all the way to Scotland!
Me to Kareno62 . Can’t for the life of me even understand it yet alone creat anything useful ! It’s knitting for me . My brain does not compute the rest .
This is so wonderful to know . I was so taken with it and the staff for giving it to him and he enjoyed it . They dropped liquid on it so had to take it away but I was so inspired I bought him a big interactive texture board and he used it in hospital too . It really makes such a difference. I hated the thought of him not being able to do much .
Artsie I am actually noticing certain types of wool are causing a wee reaction in me too . Almost like hay fever symptoms. Could be wrong .
Wellspring that’s so good to hear you are through this part and very interesting to hear it was doable . Significant shrinkage would be wonderful and I hold out for that for you .
I am paying close attention as the butterfly’s have arrived . I shall see what I can find on my walks .
Keep up the photograph. It really is making me look more as I walk around .
BlueBlue oh she can be very naughty! The sole reason why I have not gone ahead with the loft ladders replacement! I don’t trust her .
Even on holiday I got a few surprises . The stairs outside her caravan were steep but she tackled them and then proceeded to head to mine . The ground is not too even and we have just got her osteoposis under control and the fractures stopped . But she is one spirited wee lady . She wondered if a wee run around inside the caravan would do her lungs good . Just about sent my anxiety through the
oof !
My sister has her today so we shall see . The Osteoporosis has caused a lot of damage to be honest and made me think about it more going forward in my own life .

Kareno62 I don’t have Facebook but my sister does so she is now on it . Just waiting for admin to approve. I had a wee moment when I read about the palliative care blankets as my dad took a fancy to one I had made over lockdown ( was for my future grandchildren - sons would died off if they knew) and the paramedics wrapped him In it and went all round the hospital with him . He loved it and is now special to me . I would love to do something like that over winter .
Thanks for sharing and worth a look for anyone looking for a wee project to get involved in .

Twiddle Muff - what a great idea! I'd never heard of them till I read this and it got me thinking about my brother. He's blind, learning disabled and in a wheelchair due to amputation. A dialysis patient for many years, he gets very fed-up and frustrated which leads to him picking at things all the time - fingers, clothes, chair etc. The worry is his fingers which are sometimes so bad that they bleed and he's had numerous infections in them (once leading to sepsis). I've often joked that he needs to wear boxing gloves. However, after looking at twiddle muffs online I'm going to see if they help as a distraction, although he doesn't have dementia. Definitely worth a try! Thank you all for mentioning them.
Hi BlueBlue
My dad was rubbing his wrist and caused a big skin infection . I also bought a fidget for him from the internet and it also distracted him. If you need to be able to wash it . All different types for different needs .
Your brother has a lot going on there . What a lot for him to process .
Take care ,
