Back to chemo

I've just had a six week break from Panitumumab and fluorocin actually only missed two treatments though I had my PICC line out so I could go on holiday and swim in the sea which was idyllic.

I was suffering badly from the side effects and it was really getting me down so my consultant said I could go on a reduced dose after my holiday So next week I have my PICC line put back in and off I go again

Problem is I'm dreading starting again to be honest and was seriously thinking about giving up However my daughter has just told me she's expecting another baby at Christmas which has spurred me on.

I will have been on fortnightly chemo for a year now has anyone experienced long term Panitumumab?

Sorry for the ramble but all my family want me to keep on with treatment and I don't want to admit sometimes it's all too much for me

Thanks for listening

PS Message for Court (you talked about your mum) I had factor 50 suncream a big hat  sat  in the shade with a UV protected umbrella and I still caught the sun!. A very red face not too sore luckily but remember to watch the back of your hands mine are quite sore

  • Hi
Firstly so pleased you had a good holiday . Fantastic you got to swim .

Also brilliant news on the baby front , definitely a driving force in itself .

However I do hear you . Mum ended up with a six week break and a wee trip to hospital for a week but whatever they did in there as upsetting as it was she has come out much stronger .

She restarted her infusion and I will be honest I felt it for her and was dreading it but she has had two now and not nearly as bad as before . Not have a chemo right enough but the monoclonal treatment has behaved itself .

She is feeling much better than she has for months . I know this could turn on itself at any point but just to give you a wee bit encouragement.
Hope you get to have a good chat with your team about a tolerable dose .

Mum got a good chiropractor going and they are dealing with her toes !

I sent away for the suncream that is manufactured by a dermatologist and we are all using it and it’s really good . My friend discovered they do moisturisers too so going to see if it’s suitable for mum as she has tolerated the sunscreen.

I will look out for the back of her hands . I never thought of that !

I have also found an Australian company that does factor 50 clothing . Apparently it’s a big thing in Australia.
    take care ,

    Court
