Hi everyone
I'm Steph from the Community team
Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer. The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.
Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:
Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?
We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk
Thanks Jkee!
That's what the GP told me last week I just may not realise how much I have gone through the last couple of years and the last nine months especially with my `double whammy` first losing Jay and then my sister going through all she had to just after it. It's good though I can come on here and you are all here and we all get what each other is going through. Bless you all. Take Care

I think we are lucky as most doctors will not prescribe the medication. It does help though. I very rarely drive, usually ask daughter after the school run or if Les is up to it but we don’t go far at all. I really should go on an advanced driving lesson as I think it would help with confidence. I really hope it is the heating element that has gone and not the oven. You will get back to the gym when you are ready to go. Tomorrow is another day. Just laying in bed waiting for casualty to start as I think this is the last one Charlie fairhead is in.
hugs to everyone xxx
Happy Mother's day to all you ladies - I am having a day off from visiting and just had daughter and family bringing me cards and presents so that was lovely. Paul rang me first thing to say Happy Mother’s Day so I was pleased to hear from him. Jo and the children are visiting him this afternoon so hope that cheers him up a bit.

Happy Mother's Day To You too Helen and to rest of you ladies. Just waiting on William and Nicole and the wee one coming over it's William's birthday today as well so we're giving and receiving presents today. First one without his dad being here but `hey ho that's the way it goes`. He's 31 today still my wee boy although he has grown into a handsome young man. Have a lovely day ladies whatever you get up to. Take Care.

Happy Mother’s Day to you all. Daughter and girls popped over but not for long as the youngest is full of cold. Lovely to see them though. I am pleased you all have had a decent day considering the circumstances..
take care all and hugs xx
Hi all. My apologies for not having been on here for a while - things have been pretty hectic but have a moment of calm while sat at the hospital waiting for my dad to finish up his chemo session. I will try to catch up on messages over the next few days, but in the meantime just wanted to say hello and that I hope everyone is doing okay. Love to all x
Don’t worry Matt we are all still here. I hope it all goes well.
helen please take care of yourself as well. I do hope the hospital is not too far away as you do a lot of travelling and it must wear you out. I feel so sad for you going through this.
les will find out tomorrow if the op on his liver is going ahead. He has been a pain with me the last two weeks but I have taken it. I am so tired.
Jkee how are things with you xx
will let you all know tomorrow.
hugs to everyone xxxx
Maggie, do you ever go to the MacMillan coffee mornings at James Cook hospital? My mum is going to the one tomorrow, and thought I would tell her to look out for you if you’re there.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
