Hi everyone
I'm Steph from the Community team
Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer. The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.
Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:
Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?
We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk
Helen really sorry to hear this news. My heart goes out to you. My fingers and everything is crossed that all is okay. I can’t imagine how you are feeling but make sure you eat and drink. Sending all my love to you xx
Well got to Newcastle as daughter took us. There were 3 chaps in the room. Surgeon, radiographer and sonography. Les had a scan there and then while the surgeon was typing up notes. At the end the surgeon said it is doable for an operation so is contacting everyone but only if he passes the fitness test for the anaesthetic. Next week will be the big one. I am still in a daze, if he passes he has to come off chemo for 4 to 6 weeks. I am still in a daze about it all. Tummy, palpitations etc. Les seems very happy as he was anxious this morning.
Jkee how did you get on..
Helen. Keep us all updated about Paul.
hugs to everyone xx
Well daughter took us to Newcastle. Three chaps were in the room, surgeon, radiographer and sonographer. Les had a scan while surgeon typing up notes. He said it was doable to have the operation if he is fit enough for the anaesthetic. He is very happy about this while I am in a state of shock. Tummy palpitations etc. it will depend on next week now.
Jkee how did it go for you and Simon xx
helen keep us updated on how you and Paul are..
big hugs to everyone and thinking of you all xx
Oh dear wrote this twice as could not see where the post had gone. Head in the shed as we don’t have a garage as yet xx
Hi Maggie!
Well, that's a little bit more positive for you. You are a bit further on than you were this time last week. Great news that an operation is possible now and hopefully he'll pass the fitness test. Just leave your head in the shed for now you will still be processing your news. But that's brilliant news very promising for you. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way to both you and Jkee.
Helen hope everything is ok with Paul. Hugs to you all ladies. Take Care.
Vicky xx
Thanks Vicky. Yes still processing everything. I just hope Jkee and Helen are okay..
I am so pleased that you still come on as you are a great support to us all xx
Evening everyone nothing more confirmed today they want more scans and blood markers done again cannot leave it because the markers were very high wasted appointment. Maggie one step further for Les to get the operation hopefully get through the fit test Love to all of you xxx
Jkee that is a wasted appointment. Why not get the scan and bloods done again before the appointment. I am so sad for you and Simon. The rollercoaster is still going round for all of us.
love to you all xx
Oh Jkee! So sorry to hear your appointment didn't go well. It is so hard to get this kind of outcome it can be so deflating. My heart goes out to you many times when I went with Jay to appointments some of the time they told us nothing `new` and it was more or less what we knew already. Hope they will get the scans and markers done ASAP. Try and keep your chin up luvvi hard as it will be. Thinking of you and sending hugs.
Vicky xx
Oh you're so welcome Maggie. With me being there and done it already as well as Helen like to think I can come on here and still give support to you ladies in any way I can. It helps me to help you. Take Care.
Vicky xx
