Hi everyone

I'm Steph from the Community team Slight smile

Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer.  The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.

Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:

Family and friends forum

Carers only forum

Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum

You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?

We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk

  • Can you not go with him Jkee. I would want to go. I can’t believe you have been fobbed off.  I was 20 in the queue but it soon went down. Please keep us up to date.  Les has been taking anything that has antioxidants in to fight what is going on. I really feel for you Jkee. Sending huge hugs Maggie xx

  • Hi Maggie doctor said the mole looked suspicious took photos sent to dermatologist let's wait and see as far as all the pain in the joints and hands and feet we have to speak to oncologist  that a waste but at least he was concerned and acted on the mole not even going to think about it hope your ok xx

  • Jeez Maggie!  I thought our optician was bad!! They do a budget rack of frames though but the norm for them is only about £45 but depending on what you want if you want the `designer frames` no doubt its a lot more but £615 that's another mortgage!! Take Care.

  • Just something else to worry about!!

Can’t believe the price for your glasses- I stopped getting them from optician and bought my last ones online after son in law told me and they are fine and a fraction of what the optician wanted after they got them wrong for me and was going back and forwards trying to get sorted.

Another walk today and a 99 ice cream with best friend. A much better day today.

  • Hi All!

Feeling a little bit better today. Had few trips up and back to the council rubbish recycling unit today to get rid of stuff here and replace it with what I brought back from the caravan like glasses and pillows etc that didn't get used much. I left a few things behind pots n pans etc and a microwave and a few other bits n bobs I didn't think worth bringing back or just binned the rest. Feels like another betrayal because you could say you are ending a part of your life you shared together but as I said we managed to scatter some his ashes that was the main thing. Looking after sis this evening she has started to take her prep powders for colonoscopy tomorrow and they are `working`Scream. Take Care all

  • Hi Jkee I am pleased they are sorting the mole out but can’t believe nothing being done about the other. That is a worry for you. If it is not one thing it is another p.  Sending you a hug xx

vicky that was for my lenses without the frames. I have one eye that does not work and the right has to do all the work. I have only ever had varifocols as did not want to swap and I always end up losing a pair. I am very long sighted and had an iridotomy done this year due to narrow angles as it is usually long sighted people get that. The lenses have doubled as you can imagine I was more than flabbergasted.  If I had bought a pair of glasses it would have been £1000.  I don’t have to go for another year as they check on ly early cataracts. The joys. Good job I am still working.

on a better note I have trigger finger in left hand due to all that bloody gardening. I have exercises to do for that but the garden needs doing again.  More joys lol.

take care you lovely ladies and hugs Maggie xx

  • Hope it goes well for your sister tomorrow sending positive thoughts x

  • Vicky I will be thinking of you tomorrow as we need the good news.  Well done on clearing stuff as well. Maggie xx

  • Helen when I put my prescription in on the internet they came up just about the same price and with varifocals I need to have them right. Still can’t believe the price xx

  • Hope all goes well today Vicky
