Hi everyone
I'm Steph from the Community team
Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer. The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.
Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:
Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?
We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk
Hello all you lovely strong ladies - it is cloudy here in Newcastle but at least it’s not raining. Been to building society to close last account so that’s the end of all that stuff. Felt quite emotional and came home and shredded the paperwork and feel like I am shredding Kevin’s life away. I think we are all stuck in one way or another either dealing with the current situations with partners or trying to deal with the aftermath of it all. Nearly 4 months now and still feels like yesterday even though im going through the motions of daily life it is so lonely even when you are with people. People just get on with their own lives
My best friend is picking me up this afternoon for a walk and talk and coffee so will have to make the effort to cheer up a bit.
No one really knows what it’s like beside you lovely people going through the same. Keep going.
Maggie I am hoping it’s not bad news tomorrow so keep in touch. Sending you a big hug

Morning Helen cannot believe it has been 4 months scary how quick time is going this year I know the feelings you have are normal I do not believe the saying time is a healer you just deal with things better I'm talking years not months glad you still have the support around you a walk and a coffee sounds lovely not left Simon at all in 7 months but a nice walk would be good deep breath but if you don't feel like doing a walk and coffee that's fine too people will understand I'm quite boring I prefer my own company where I don't have to try and be happy or listen to people when really I just want to scream and cry don't want to hear about what you are Jonny have been up to that makes me sound miserable but I'm sure you know what I mean love to everyone keep going xxx
I agree with you there Helen it can get so lonely even when you are with people. Watched Eastenders last night haven't watched it in a while just can't believe they're introducing yet another cancer storyline with Alfie. They just got over Lola's brain tumour thought they could at least give this one a happy outcome so guess Eastenders will be getting a miss again. The soaps should start to think about bringing in more happier storylines they are so depressing. Went to pick up my sister today at her house she is starting to walk so slow I am just really starting to worry for her now. It's her colonoscopy a week today and just don't know what to expect from that. Just need to take as it comes and hope for the best. Going to sort the caravan on Monday now William is going a night out on Saturday so won't be fit to drive next day he said which is sensible. Got a video call from him this morning he is on holiday this week and next I'm not really up on these video calls but he told me what to do when answering it so got there in the end. Great to see the wee one as well. Not seen her in weeks. William told her to wave to granny and she sat and waved at him and he said no that way Myla- so funny! Can't believe it's 8 weeks already since Jay went feels longer for some reason. The weeks just fly in. Take Care All. Good luck for tomorrow Maggie.

Oh Helen! I've just discovered Vinted. William and Nicole put me on it. It's a great wee site if you have clothes you've never worn or hardly worn. Won't make you rich but gets you a wee bit `pocket money` I've sold some of my stuff on it already. Gives you a wee buzz when you're stuff actually sells. I might- and that's a big might- sell some of Jay's stuff on it when I feel I can get round to it and some will go to charity as well.

Great you discovered vented Vicky. That will bring in a few pennies.
just got back from oncologist. Bowel tumour has shrunk a little bit but still big. She is waiting for the MRI of the liver and if it has shrunk will have a MDT meeting and will ring Les to let him know of the outcome. Until then continue with chemotherapy as he is tolerating it for now. 9th session starting again next Tuesday.
she did say that he will get more tired as he continues with chemo.
huge hugs to you brave ladies Maggie xx
Hi Maggie been thinking about you all day quess that is good news as far as it is not growing 9th session he is amazing well done Les let's hope everything keeps going right way xx
Well that's a bit of positive news for you Maggie! long may it continue as least for the time being things are going in the right direction. Great if he is able to continue to tolerate the chemotherapy as he has been and yes, I suppose he will get more tired the further on he gets with the treatment. So pleased for you that you at least have some positive news
Vicky cc
Thank you Jkee and Vicky. Depending on the liver scan they are taking it to the MDT and may be just may be talking about surgery. The only thing I am worried about one you are opened up it could spread quicker and I live just over an hour away from Newcastle so that will be a huge worry. Trying not to worry about that now though. Let us get over this if his bloods are okay to go ahead with chemo.
thank you again you brave ladies and sending huge hugs to all. Maggie xx
Pleased to hear things have improved for you and getting to 9th chemo shows something is working. You just have to go with it and poor Les getting more tired. It’s so so hard for him and for you having to deal with this but what can you do.
Vicky will look at Vinted as having a clear out of my clothes next week I think. Just trying to keep busy.
just wondering how Pauline is coping?
Helen x
Hi Helen. He does seem more positive in himself but I am not sure if they decide on operation first on his liver. That really worries me as they said the liver is more important. We will wait and see what the oncologist says. It will be in Newcastle if they do as that is the liver specialist and not James cook.
glad you are keeping busy you are all doing remarkably well considering the circumstances. I just hope I am strong enough.
big hugs Maggie xx
