Hi everyone
I'm Steph from the Community team
Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer. The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.
Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:
Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?
We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk
Best of luck for today, Jkee. Thinking of you xxx

Hi everyone just back from hospital first chance to speak to you well yesterday I sat in the hospital for 12 hours walking around outside looking for a bench nothing sat on walls kerbs and then back inside anyway the operation went sort of ok first of all removed the large stomach one didn't have to rebuild it the small bowel was nearly completely blocked another 24 hours he would have not made it they removed the cancer and sewed his small bowel back to his intestine but unfortunately found 2 more small ones I cannot remember where she said somewhere in tissue I think so they took 4 cancers out now need to wait 2 weeks until they have their meeting to see what if anything next will keep you in touch xx
Jkee I am relieved he had his operation. Fingers crossed they have a plan for him. You must be mentally and physically exhausted. Do try and rest a little as he will need a lot of care when he gets out.
not sure about Les. He has blood in his poop from before his liver op and now there are clots. I am devastated as we don’t find out for ages from the oncologist what is happening next. He is losing weight and now lost 4 stone. Son in law getting things done in the garden and that is keeping him going and something to look forward to.
thank you Vicky for your support
everyone else I am thinking of you and sending big hugs Maggie xx
Thankyou SCARLET10 and Maggie looks like he has a infection sorry to put this but it is terrible in the hospital don't want to write on here but thank goodness I went in today also no staff but the 2 that were on one had a nasty cough but she said she is ill but couldn't afford time off so Simon told her I'm sorry I don't want you coming in my room his oxygen level dropped to 92 on oxygen couldn't take blood because dehydrated waited 5 hours for fluid drip now waiting for someone to take blood see where or what the infection is why does this happen everytime it's enough fighting Cancer not picking up infections in hospital sorry to rant just exhausted
Good to hear the operation went ok Jkee. fingers crossed everything else goes ok. Oh dear that's not so good the nurse looking after him wasn't so great I would have thought they would have told her to go home whether she wanted to or not she's spreading infection. Sorry to hear Simon got an infection. Jay got that as well after his op and they needed to put a drain into his stomach. Maggie no bother! as I said helps me to to help you all if I can. Will hear how you all get one. Take Care All.
Vicky xx
Jkee you’re not ranting just telling it how it is. I hope the hospital is not too far away. If it is is there any chance you can stay over night. One of the men when Les was in his wife stayed over in his room a few times to be with him. I know you have the puppy but someone will look after him. I hope they have put an oxygen mask on Simon and they are wearing masks. I am not sure what to say to comfort you but just letting you know that I am thinking of you and my thoughts will be with you. I have been awake since 4.30 and decided to get up. It is such a shame we don’t live closer as we could all chip in and help. I do feel I have made great friends on here. Les and this chap whose wife stayed at the hospital are still in touch and I keep in touch with a lady from Bristol whose husband was having a trial op for his hip. You must feel so alone but please come on here and say what you like. My heart goes out to you xx
Hi everyone not going to hospital today Simon is poorly with some sort of infection and to be honest don't feel the best thought last night I havn't been looking after myself not had water in 3 days just a sandwich from walking the dog morning and night hospital hour each way not even had time to sit so today I will take bins out hoover etc and drink. Surgeon came happy with the operation until we know what the lab say on tumours we don't know what is next love to you and thankyou xx
