Hi,
A really fed up person here. I ve just been informed that I have to have another pic line and more chemo next week.
Had the tumour removed April 2022 and was told that it was aggressive and that it cant be cured but controlled. Finished the last cycle in jan this year and feeling ok but have never felt 'well' since my prostate cancer the year before? Its been a rotten last three years for Sue my wife and me,all she's done since retirement is look after me and I feel rotten about it.
Coupled with that Im still getting over over shingles (three months now) and last week after spending 19 hrs in A & E last week for rectal pain I picked up chest infection that laid me out for a week!!
They say the chemo should sort the pain but Im looking at what the future holds....
Sorry, dont want to feel sorry for myself and I know they are doing the best for me but Im so down.
Terry
Hi slash1953
So wish there was an easier way to get this treatment to be effective . It’s a thought for you all going through this again .
You off load here any time you like .
My mum is starting back on Friday after a break and it’s a thought for sure . My sister and I were just saying the same and how much more mum has to through .
I will be thinking of both you and your wife as you head back into treatment.
Take special care ,

Hey Terry so sorry to hear about the rollercoaster of harsh treatments. It is very, very hard to keep a positive outlook or feel good when you are literally ill and feeling physically terrible! Esp. When one thing comes after the other. I hope you recover from part of your problems soon so that you can have some emotional respite too. I also wanted to say that your wife & you sound strong together, please don't feel too bad about the hard time she's having with your illness. If you flip it around I'm sure you'd do the same for her and wouldn't think twice about it. In a way the retirement was well timed because that's one less (big!) thing to stress about!
Hi Slash1953!
Since my husband retired in 2019 it has been nothing but hospitals, clinics, specialists, oncologists etc etc. He was first diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes which we were able to work on and get under control with his weight loss. Then at the end of 2020 in the midst of covid his bowel cancer symptoms began to surface. He got his official diagnosis of that in July 2021 for which the surgeon told him he had been walking around with the tumour for 3 years previous without showing symptoms. He then got a bowel resection procedure and has a permanent stoma now. He was admitted in January 2022 to get the tumour cut out which they said they got all of it. Five months down the line (just about this time last year) it was back. He then had to endure more chemotherapy which made him quite ill and had to be stopped as it caused kidney damage and he had to get a double nephrostomy to help his kidneys drain. And rcently h has been back and forth to hospital like a boomerang with a few sepsis infections. Not bad for someone who worked 50 odd years with hardly a sick day off who was hardly at a GP surgery ( he joked one time if the GP actually had a file on him) very seldom in a hospital (only once with a broken wrist) and now it's mor or less and everyday occurrence. Happy retirement?! I think not. Take Care.
