I have had report back from operation to remove T2 cancer tumour and it is a clear no requirement for Chemotherapy. Now I just want to get home once the old exhaust system starts up again. The only thing for me is a stoama, not the end of the world is it.

At same time how do you balance things out? For my clearance there are more people the nurse will see today with bad results. Tonight my prayers and good feeling is with me and my family. I need to leave tomorrow the prayers for others and their families. Is this wrong of me?

I can hear the sheep in the field behind hospital, such a great sound to know it will continue for me and my wife.

Any suggestions for how to get bowel started following surgery? would be very appreciated as I want to get home and enjoy my time with my wife NOW Two hearts

  • Of course you do . It’s only natural . Plus there is no place like home .

One NHS site I saw suggested chewing gum ! The bowel thinks it’s getting fed ! You can let us know if you have any success .

  • I was told to take chewing gum into hospital with me. Chew a stick of gum for 20 minutes, 3 times a day. I even had to tick a box on a form to confirm that I'd done it!

    Hope you get home soon.

  • Hi Rabbit 55.

    Congrats on completing your surgery.

My bowel just needed time. It was a bit like a stroppy teenager who just needed space and understanding that things hadn't gone quite as planned plus they had been through quite a physical uphevial.

Try and be patient. Nature has a magical way of kicking in when it's ready ... though I found a bit of chocolate mouse also helped Blush
