Hello,
I just got back from a dual endoscopy/colonoscopy procedure.
The doctor said he removed a polyp, but he was also concerned with several lesions that are now being biopsied.
He said he also "traced" them to make them easier to show up on a CT scan.
Is surgery the only way to get rid of lesions whether they be benign or cancerous?
Hello Rocinante
Welcome to the Online Community.
I am sorry to see that you have been undergoing an endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures.
It must be a worrying time for you and it is natural to have questions and wonder what is ahead. It is good that the doctor was able to remove a polyp straight away. Regarding the lesions, a biopsy is the only way of knowing what they are and until the results come back it is difficult to say what treatment may be offered.
There are different treatments available if the lesions do turn out to be cancerous but treatment decisions would be based around stages/grades and only after discussion with you taking into account many different factors.
If the lesions turn out to be benign, then again treatment would depend on exactly what was causing them.
I hope that you do not have to wait too long to find out and then you will be able to discuss with your doctor what needs to happen next.
Jane
