I had a right hemicolectomy in Dec 2021. T3N0M0. My one year scan in Jan this year was clear. I was supposed to have my one year colonoscopy in Jan also, but I am still waiting, due to the backlog caused by COVID. I have spoken to my hospital nurse but she said it could be months. I am really anxious as I want the reassurance that all is well. I told the nurse I have some issues with constipation and stomach aches but she wasn't concerned. I wondered if anyone else has suffered this delay? Maybe I should consider going private?
Hi Drama. Personally I’d be happy with a scan? The NICE guidelines recommend follow ups of CEA and CT scans for 3 years. I seem to remember that I had quarterly CEA tests and annual scans - I didn’t have a colonoscopy until just before my 5 year sign off. If you’re concerned about the symptoms then perhaps give your doctor a ring - it may be down to anxiety?
Take care

Thank you for replying. It's just that my consultant said that I would have a colonoscopy at one year and scans every year for 5 years along with blood tests every 6 months. I have a blood test due next month. I keep telling myself that the scan would have shown the colon. You are right in that it could be anxiety.
Hi Drama
Thanks for the well wishes I’m fine The CT saved my life and colonoscopy wouldn’t have shown two tiny nodules. I’ve had a segment top right and the whole of lower right lobe removed. I also had a PET Scan to check there was no spread before they operated
The NHS are struggling however they still manage to pull it out of the bag even though the time scale is much longer
I’ve decided that I’m not going to have a colonoscopy if they send me an appointment. I’ve been pulled around enough I need a break and some sun

You've certainly earned a holiday,! I'm planning a holiday to see my daughter in Australia in September, which is why I'm anxious to know I'm clear. I've also got friends to catch up with there as I lived in Perth for 13 years until coming back to UK 11 years ago. Still trying to decide if it was a mistake !
