Hi HazG
As the welfare rights advisers are not available on the “ask an expert” section of the forum, the best thing to do would be to phone the Macmillan support line (number in my signature) where you can be put in touch with someone from the welfare rights team to chat to in person. They will be able to explain the process for you.

Hi
I had support early days and phone calls from MacMillan to check in to see how I was going on and if they could help
Absolutely amazing I had such wonderful advice and yes we have attendance allowance but not for me it’s for my hubbys Parkinson’s. It’s made a difference to us. We can have a gardener or help if we need and I think we will soon
Definitely worth a call. Or get the forms for it I’ve attached a Gov link if you want to research more

Hi HazG
There is a good section on the government website on the criteria. They have to provide 35plus hours a week . They can make a limited amount of income per week and the person who the are claiming for has to be in receipt of certain benefits .
The helpline staff will be able to help you out with accurate information. It’s roughly what I can remember from my brief look .
Take care ,
Court

Oh sorry Court and HazG
that must be the wrong link I’ve put up . I’m having a bad day today
Macmillan sent us forms for attendance allowance which has no bearing on any benefits.
We don’t receive any benefits as we are on Gov pensions and have our own house
we have never had benefits as my husband was self employed, didn’t even get sick pay!
The lovely MacMillan lady said that we were entitled to it and she knew we would get it because she’d got it for her mother who lived in her own home
Sorry for my confusion.
Have a good day
Ann
I'm having chemo at the Jigsaw Cancer Unit at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital part of University Hospitals Dorset. I was contacted early on and they arranged attendance allowance plus a blue badge
All sorted by hospital
