I’m now at 2.5 weeks post op and am feeling quite well. Wound is healing well but is really itchy and am getting less internal pain daily. Temptation to do more is there, especially in the sunshine, but I know it’s not the outside that matters most so doing very little is still on the cards. Good news is they got it all and lymphnodes(34 of them) are all clear!!
The letter with 5 year treatment plan hits like a bit of a slap in the reality check face but better to be monitored than not.
Wishing everyone on this journey good vibes. It’s definitely good to talk!!

  •   Brilliant news about the lymph nodes  and good to hear that you’re feeling so well.  I found the regular checks and scans to be reassuring and each clear one pushed the cancer a little further back in my mind. Enjoy the sunshine Sunny️ x

    Take care

  • Congrats indeed Atticus. Amazing news

  • Hi that’s great to hear I am 13 days post operation and I feel a little bit better each day been out for a walk today not a long one but managed it well , but as the days go in I seem  to be getting more tearful, thinks it’s the waiting for the results the surgeon is really happy with the operation hopeful mine will come through quickly like yours take care

  • Hi again can I ask another question ,how long did it take for the results on the lymph nodes to come back ? also who gave you the information .really getting anger at myself it’s all I am thinking about ,it’s the first time since my diagnosis I have felt so low  was told it would be the cancer specialist nurse that would phone but after my first MDT meeting I had to chase her up hope that dose not  happen again thank you

  • From my operation on 20th I got my results after the mdt meeting on 31st. I was told results take 10-14 days to arrive and then depending on when the team meet to go through them I would get my phone call after it. Torbay gi team meet on Fridays. I’d give a call on Friday if you have heard nothing by then. Stay calm and don’t fret over what you can’t control. Big hug sent.x

  • Mine results took 2 weeks to come through but by the time MDT met and I had an appointment with the consultant it was 3 weeks.

Be kind to yourself. It’s completely understandable that it is pre-occupying your mind. Allow your feelings to be what they are. I found distraction didn’t take the stress away completely but it did help. Do whatever you find relaxing no matter how mindless it may be.  It’s ok at the moment! And it’s only for the short term. I think this phase of waiting is one of the toughest times. It will pass!!! And I am sure you will get through it. just be kind to yourself and allow yourself to fulfil what ever will help you!!

    Sending you strength!!!

  • 22 days post op', Consultant phoned today. Either side of the 60mm of colon removed, clear. But pathology detected some microscopic thingy's in the wall of my abdomen that was also infected. He's arranging for me to see the oncologist to discuss possible post op' chemo'. No problem.

  • Hi Jagman.

Congrats on clear margins. Sorry to hear about pesky cells in abdomen, hope your oncologist will wave their wand and swiftly banish them

  • Hi' C O T, While they don't want to give advise in case things go wrong. I did detect it was the consultants preferred path and from the beginning I did think it was the path to take, hope you are keeping O/K.

  • Hi Jagman

Uncertainty can be unsettling, so I hope you get a date with oncologist swiftly.

Chemo can be tough for some and easy for others. My biggest advice is do tell your oncologist if you are finding it tough, as a small tweak can make a massive difference on how you cope.

As Artsie so beautifully called it, i'm in a bit of a "whack-a-mole" phase, but hoping to get some clear results from my latest urgent scans Fingers crossed
