Post operative bowel function

My tumour was in the descending colon, & approx. 12 " of colon (to include part of the Sigmoid,) was removed - to enable resection. Bowel movements for the first two weeks were very painful, plus also a bit all over the place for several months.

Hi Dewibach - are you still on a low fibre, low residue diet? If not, maybe try that for a few days (or weeks as you feel suits) to see if your able to empty fully.

I would however say that after op, new setup + with some nodes removed, it may also just be just be your bowel taking time to heal and thus feels different while it does.

And as a backup let your colorectal nurse team now so they can monitor and help.

I found keeping a food diary really helpful. I was able to start with a quite bland beige diet and introduce more variety slowly. 
Hope things settle down  

Hi, Dewibach , simple answer is yes. I can get that still 3 years down the line. But you are still in early days, don't forget the trauma your poor guts have been through... not surprised they are upset. It will hopefully settle. If you are worried try dulcoease
