Ok morning al,l I had my consultation meeting today,
so my cancer is in remission I was told I will need to see my surgeon for next step,
I wish I had asked more questions.
did any one have to see they're surgeon after seeing there oncologist.
Sorry everything a blur now.
Big beautiful hugs
Hi Flower123 and great news about the remission. I had a final appointment with my oncologist after finishing chemo and then my annual checkups were always with the surgeon or 1 of his team. I think my CEA results came from my colorectal support nurse although not all hospitals do this test now
Take care

You’re welcome. If you look at section 1.6 in the NICE guidelines it recommends follow ups for 3 years including scans and CEA but if it hasn’t been checked so far then it’s not much of a guide? I think I had mine checked 6 monthly which was a nice reassurance inbetween scans

Hi Flower123,
Congrats on remission .
Yes, my understanding is that it is normal practice for us to be handed back to our colorectal surgeons once our oncologists no longer need to be involved, ie after we complete their treatment plans.
If you have questions, I'm sure you oncologist or CSN would answer them for you. Perhaps drop them a line.
