Today Simon was still in Hospital had CT scan MRI scan bloods eco still didn't explain why he had pain in heart 10 days in hospital. Has oncologist appointment in out patience this afternoon in clinic wheeled him downstairs eventually saw a oncologist told them I was not happy with poor Simon who by this point has had enough went to get another oncologist who explained that yes It was the capox that was attacking his heart liver and gallbladder and if we carried on taking it would have lead to a heart attack. They told us they cannot offer us anything else just watch and wait not sure how I feel good no chemo but scared not having the insurance of mop up chemo just fingers crossed I quess

  • Oh Jkee! I'm so sorry to hear thatDisappointed. Sounds as though we are in the same boat. It was the CAPOX that made Jay quite ill too. He got taken off that and then had a break before they put him on the 5FU of which he only completed one session before his bloods showed up dehydration and low kidney function. This was immediately stopped and his PICC line removed and found it was the chemo that damaged the kidneys whether it was the CAPOX or 5FU we don't know just that it was the chemo. But as I said earlier they are not ruling out for the future so as Court said in replying to my post they are leaving the door open for him once he is fit enough. I spoke to one of the nurses here today and she said there are so many other forms of chemo that can be considered even ones with reduced dosage of the ones he was on so it won't be so severe but they will need to tread carefully because of his kidneys now and don't know if any type of chemo could cause further damage. I'm like you too worrying constantly incase the cancer is spreading further while he is not on treatment, so I guess its just `watch n wait` for us too. Yes I get what you mean Jay has been through so much like your Simon sometimes I wonder if he will throw in the towel but he has the determination to see our wee granddaughter go to school and to meet any other grandchildren Willam and Nicole may have at some point again after their recent abortion and I really do hope and pray he gets to see that. Sending you a BIG cyber hug!  Take Care of yourself.
